My Dear Subjects
A life of service and duty can be hard, one appreciates that you may not understand, however to give of oneself and ask for nought in return, can be exhausting , it's been a week! One was required to attend a noise making session with my private secretary. She was playing what I can only describe as half a wooden bone with strings attached, howling out Careless Whisper apparently! In attendance was a republican, Lionel the Springer spaniel, one can only assume he feels his old age and the fact it is his residence, takes precedence, he gave me a few sniffs then retired to his bed, he showed no reverence. The daily promenades were at times in torrential rain and hardest of all, no visit to my Bea and Issy, I trust they cope without me. At last, Nuts day arrived. Once in the room, I rushed through my usual routine in preparation for the main event, rehearsing the current piece. Alas this was not to be. One must comprehend, at times the creative process can be humbling. In particular, improvisation. It requires saying yes and to invite in all players, yawn, stretch and a quick scratch; needs must! Today, the canine Roger Moore, moi, was surplus to requirements (Roger joked his acting was raise left eyebrow, then raise right eyebrow). A chance for slumber; during my repose, rehearsal continued. On that note, one feels the need to take a dog nap. Until we meet again, keep your tails wagging. Bentley
